Hi everyone. Just a reminder that it is really important that those who are scheduled to sort show up on Thursday. For this week, that means Suzanne Z., Rhett A., Maggie L., and Cody B. If you cannot sort, you are responsible to find a replacement.
Some of you have asked about apples. Trust me, we miss them too. Apples are astronomically expensive right now. I think you can get apples as Costco or at the store for a cheaper price than we can get them. We'll start ordering them again as the supply increases (harvest time) and the price goes down (we hope).
One last order of business...some have been asking if we are still saving money doing this and are wondering why the baskets are not as full as they remember them in days gone by. My feeling is that we are still getting a great deal on the produce. When I have to buy things in the store, I almost always recoil at having to pay the retail price. Almost everything is marked up considerably. On the second issue, the short answer is inflation. Food costs have risen pretty dramatically across the board due to growing problems, shortages, and increased transport costs. Please visit the blog (if you don't already) and participate in the poll posted there. I'd like to get a feeling for how everyone feels about the quantity and variety of produce we are getting and whether or not it may be time to increase our share price. For now, nothing will change--we'll stay at $35 per basket until further notice.
FINALLY...
